So I wasn't a huge fan of this in the magazine but when I looked at the pattern pieces I figured it would be perfect for this fabric I had in stash. My only requirements were a big swath of uninterrupted fabric.

Here's the front. I think it looks like culottes when my legs are together like this.

Here it is in it's full glory. You can see the top if the facing peeking out on the top left (my right). The belt is at my natural waist.

You have to be really careful with the pocket. I wasn't as careful as I could have been and I have some hip wrinkles.

It's pretty high; about an inch over your natural waist.

Embroidery detail. I bought this fabric from Fabric.com a
looong time ago. I didn't realize the motif was so big when I bought it. It's been hard to find a pattern to use with it.

Here's my little one "helping". This is to show the width of the pocket.

It's an unlined skirt with side invisible zipper. You can see the pockets here. I could have used matching thread but how boring would that be? Instead I decided to match the outer embroidery and
overlocked everything with orange and red. The gray you see is the interfacing around the pocket edges.

I decided to just do a narrow folded under hem.

All in
all, I really like it. I was lukewarm on the pattern and fabric but I really like them together.

It looks great in that fabric.
Wow, that is really nice. Good call on the fabric, it's so cute.
ps congrats on your new toy ;)
Oh yes, this is a great pattern to choose for a border print. Nice skirt!
Nice! Your daughter looks like a great helper!!
I love the fabric. It really looks nice on you!
This is a style that works well on a slim figure, such as yours. Great job.
Great skirt/fabric combination. It looks fantastic on you.
That turned out so cute. What a great use of that fabric!
It is interesting to hear the pattern didn't do it for you. I loved it when I first saw it. I think the sewn down pleat thing is really flattering. You have matched it well with your fabric. Great job!
This pattern is perfect for your fabric - together they are beautiful!
Great skirt! nice work pairing the pattern with the fabric! Also, I have been reading about your embroidery machine, how fun. I thought of you today when I received a Nancy's Notions email about some giant pacgake deal on embroiderry thread that included some free patterns. I don't know much about that whole area, so maybe it's not that great but thought your should know! :) Have a great day!
Big pockets are great for international airline travel - holding passports, etc.
Sweet skirt!
The pattern and fabric work so well together to make a very nice skirt. Nice work!
