Jalie 3351 Again (I know, I know, move ON, Dawn!)

I know I need to move on and make something that isn’t a Jalie pattern. Come ON, though. Isn’t this a great pair of shorts? I had to go ahead and make a pair for my Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. This is the same thing I made the other day except it’s in a nylon/lycra fabric. I’m in love! Fabric is great, fit is great.

There’s no butt-cling, no tightness, and they feel fantastic. So fantastic, I’m going to run 13.1 miles in them next week. This is my typical Jalie size R – no modification. (This is my Nike Victory Define Sports Bra. Super comfortable and supportive. Of course, I don’t need a crazy amount of support either.)

I added a little glitz to them because I can’t resist and I have all this girl leotard fabric everywhere. The underpocket is made from glitter purple snakeskin fabric.

I will make these over and over again. I love the waistband on these. I’m going to start using this waist-elastic application to other patterns. It’s a super dark and dreary day outside, so I had to mess with the lighting in Photoshop. It makes the walls look all washed out and weird.

Front.

Back. Love the chevron.

From the side. The right side is CB. You can see it’s quite a bit higher.

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee. A little glitter goodness just for me.

That fabulous waistband again.

In case you forgot what the pattern looks like again. They are supposed to have a mesh lining underwear option but I left that out on my two pairs.

Wish me luck! I may get to crank out another top or dress before we leave for San Diego! Swap Meet, here I come!!!!!!

I love love these shorts -- and I'm obsessed now with Jalie too! Good luck on the marathon -- I did a Rock N Roll half marathon in 93 or 94 in San Diego, trained a friend of mine (who it was her first), stayed with her the entire race and Oprah ended up finishing before us. Sad. Hopefully you'll have much better luck!

I am so tempted to get this pattern after seeing your two pairs- they look great. Very interesting that the back is drafted higher.

Ooh! Show off that headpiece too. Looks like it matches? Love these shorts! Getting the pattern. Thanks!

I haven't pullled this pattern out of the package yet Dawn- but you have me interested in the interior finishing for certain. They look great! Note to self----get your rear in gear if you want to look like Dawn!!

I love that you are a jalie addict! I've made three hoodies from their new pattern since it's been released - Jalie patterns are so nice to sew with! MOAR Jalie! ;)

I think you sew to make things you love, so move on when you are ready! I love these shorts. Alas, if only I would look that good in them. These rock, Dawn!

Awesome shorts! And I threw out this piece of glitter fabric because I couldn't think of a use for it and was going through a silly decluttering the fabric stash craze... anywho, I got the pattern too a couple weeks back and once I find my trace a pattern I am sooooo making myself a pair. Love your posts!

Love, love, love, love, love - oh, sorry - just love the colors!

First of all, I love the colors and your finished shorts. How many people are going to use metallic snake skin to line their pockets? Hello Awesome! I've discovered great value in making multiples of a pattern or even an art project (like my sculptures). I learn more about it, I improve, and each result is a little different.

Congrats on having these stay in place and be comfortable for your 1/2 marathon. Wow! Plus with goo in your pocket? That's a super fit.

Is there a clear lengthen line across the leg of the Jaile swimshort pattern? I'd want to add ~ 4-6" to it to keep from leg chafing. Whee!

I don't think there is a lengthening line. It would be really easy to do, just cut and lengthen the shorts about an inch above the bottom so you don't have to mess with the curved bottom hem.

I was thinking the same thing! I tried making a matching headband for my last running skort but I'd love to see how you made it Dawn.
I really like the waistband on these shorts, might try to modify the skort pattern with it.
Those are Gorgeous shorts!
