A Bit Distracted . . .

Usually I don't let things distract me from sewing. But, this is bigger and more evil. My neighbors are crazy. I've been spending the last few days getting this protective stalking order against them. We have the emergency 20-day one right now but I have a hearing on the 29th to determine whether I get to have the full blown 6-month protective order.

They haven't actually hurt any of my family but they sure threaten. What is that Mad Eye Moody says in Harry Potter? I think it's, "Constant vigilance!!!" That's how I feel right now. I'm just glad my husband and kids will be gone this weekend. If they are going to do something it will be this weekend I bet.

Hopefully I'll have a Jalie top to show you tonight or Friday. Happy sewing and constant vigilance!

  1. Sorry you are having neighbor troubles.
I was just in the Anchorage area for a week visiting my son. I found quilting stores but not a lot in fashion fabric.
I am guessing you must use a lot of Static Guard on the fleece projects as I was getting zapped the whole time I was there.
Normally I just lurk and look at everyone's projects, but since I was just in your state, I am commenting.

  3. No way! Who DOES that?

Sorry you have such creepy neighbors! That's horrible!

    Take care!

  4. How scary. Please take all precations. Lock every window and door and don't confront them. Call the police if they come on your property. If your husband isn't going to be home have someone come stay with you. Better safe. Hits home, lost a sister to a stranger.

  6. That's crazy! Why can't neighbors just leave other neighbors be? X-x and why this weekend? Cripes! I hope it all works out for you. I love this blog and your whimsical spin on utilitarian sewing projects.

  11. Been there, done that, and believe me, I feel your pain. We had a similar situation--jerk neighbor threatened our kids, constantly harassed us, made our lives miserable. We tried to ignore it, but couldn't. Got a restraining order. We actually ended up selling our home and moving. I think some people have a mission in life to make everyone as miserable as they are. Watch your back--crazy people do crazy things with no logic.

  12. That's beyond awful, and I thought I had it bad when I caught my neighbor and my (ex)husband fooling around! If I were you I'd seriously consider moving.

  14. Look after yourself Dawn. I am really sorry to hear about your neighbours - life is to short to have to deal with people like that.

  17. Dawn, this sounds pretty awful. May I make a suggestion? (Couldn't find an email address to make it privately.) You might want to white-out your birthdate from the image on this post.

I don't know whether your neighbor(s) know about your blog, but putting your birth date online might lead to identity theft problems - whether via your neighbors or strangers.

I know that somewhere something on your blog leads to your real name (saw it somewhere, but can't remember where), and, well, maybe all of that is just too much information. You might want to whiteout that birth date.

Hope you don't mind my pointing this out. I don't want anything bad to happen to one of my favorite bloggers!

  19. Hey! Do we have the same neighbors? My crazies finally moved 3 weeks ago! It's been really nice - no cop cars to be seen. Hope the same happens for you.

  20. Scary stuff! We had awful, scary upstairs neighbors when we were first married, but stalking? No. I hope that it all works out for you.

  21. That is indeed, scary. I hope all is well for you this weekend.
