I really like these two patterns out of the new August Burda. Would it be too much to have that big print with a tie or flounce? And remember I'm a pretty small person too. Would it be too overwhelming on me?
If I used the one with the flounces, I would be careful to match the center front.
I'll probably end up making this skirt too because I love it and school starts in about three weeks.
Wow! it's very pretty--I love the colors! Question: how long is the repeat? I'm asking because I would try to cut it crosswise so that the rows of circles are vertical rather than horizontal. Note--I'm not a small person and I'm thinking about what *I* would do. I think that you are small enough that you could wear the stripes *either* way. I just like to look at different options. It's a lovely piece of fabric.

I love both these blouses but wonder if this gorgeous fabric is right for them. The large print may look a little overwhelming. If it were me I'd go for a sheath dress. There is a good example of what I mean in BWOF May edition. Or if you dont have enough fabric perhaps a pencil shirt.

Thumbs up to running the pattern vertical if you can do this (the pattern looks more interesting this way); thumbs up to the tie version; thumbs up to seeing the fabric draped against you to get the scale; thumbs up to a sheath dress if enough fabric; thumbs down to the lovely waterfall pattern as the 'aztec' is shaking its head at the 'new romantic' pattern.

For what it's worth, I think the print will be lost on the tie front blouse. And maybe even on the flounce one too. Although the body of each is plain enough...I'm now thinking the tie would be best. No need to match or move around the print on the flounce.

ReplyDeleteI cut out the flounce front one last night in a smaller flowered pattern. I can't see the picture of your fabric but wanted to say that the flounce is somewhat lost in the patterned fabric. Mine is more of a practice shirt since I've never worked with sheers. I love both those blouses. Oh and the flounce one has really no waist shaping, it's more like a tunic shape.

ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely fabric, but a busy one, and I would go for a simple tunic, because the detail of either blouses, even if they are simple, would get lost.
