Jalie 2908 - Black Jeans

They're dooooone. I think I'll wear them tomorrow with this same shirt. You can't have a bright-ass butt without a bight-ass shirt, right?

I finally broke out the knee-high boots too. I have four pairs and love them all. I wear them all winter with wool skirts, layered dresses, and pants. DUO boots is my favorite place to buy boots. I have my eyeballs on this pair and this one. I plan to wait until they go on sale in December. The prices are a bit steep right now.

I did all the topstitching with my Necchi. It goes through denim with thick thread like nobody's business. I used Gutterman upholstery thread (which I adore) with regular thread in the bobbin. I don't have a topstitching foot for the Necchi. Do any of you know of feet like that I could buy for the Necchi? I like the topstitching feet with the metal or plastic guide that sits next to the seam. The embroidery is from Embroidery Emotions and it's a freebie. I left out several of the sections of filler thread and made most of the design white.

  6. Hey Dawn, I bet the Necchi is feeling all spunky after working on those jeans! I have a Necchi BU. I have two foot suggestions for you: first, if you want to be compatible with a low shank machine, you can get a high-to-low shank snap on foot adapter. I got mine from Gone Sewin' on eBay. Then you can get any snap on foot you want (any maybe share with another machine). Or, and you might love this, you can get high shank industrial feet. They make some fantastic TS feet that should fit great on your Mira--I happened on an industrial compensating TS foot and it is the bomb. It is a bilevel foot, very specific to one certain width of TS from your edge. Not expensive, so you can get a set if you want lots of different widths. Again, eBay. Try Sharp Sewing or amindustrialsupply.

  9. I've just finished my first pair of Jalie stretch jeans and I am a complete convert. Thanks for all your great suggestions. I ordered the Brindisi boots from Duo - beautiful boots, but they just didn't fit me properly. The hunt for the elusive 'perfect' boot is still on. Well done on a lovely and unique pair of jeans!!

  10. OMG, they do say "look at my ass!" I thought you were teasing. You look great. I love the shirt with the jeans.

Your topstitching is awesome!!! Really makes the jeans standout...not that the embroidery didn't do that.

  13. Dawn, I think the shirt print balances off the jean pockets. Ha! You are so lucky that the Jalie patterns fit you great. So it's boot time up in the north country already? I can't wait for it here in New England. It's coming.

  15. Thanks for the tip on the boots! I see that you can order by CALF WIDTH in addition to shoe size! I have been scared to buy tall boots because I have the world's skinniest calves. Maybe this is what I need. Hmmm... wonder what the exchange rate ia....
