Must. Buy. This.

I absolutely love this new pattern from Hot Patterns. I have never tried any Hot Pattern before but I am sorely tempted with this one. Part of it is the styling. I LOVE the grays and white. Love. It. If my local fabric boutique has it in stock, I'll buy it. Paulette, is it there?? I have some rayon knit that would be perfect. I would use self-fabric for the rib knit sleeves, neck, and hem. I love it and now I'll have to keep my eyeballs out for ribknit. My favorite is the elbow length sleeves.

  1. I just made this dress...this morning! It is seriously the fastest project I have ever done, and I love it. I am already planning my next one!

  2. I think you have the perfect body type to wear Hot Patterns. They cut closer than the Big 4, generally.

  3. It looks perfect! And the model drawing of the dress with the elbow length sleeves is even standing like you! :) Can't wait to see another beautiful finished product. You constantly inspire me.

  4. I have the Hot Patterns patterns. They fit very well for us petite women. I make very few alterations, such as shortening the waist length or swayback. You can order some of the patterns on fabric.com with free shipping. Otherwise, you can only mail order from their website. But THEY ARE WORTH IT! I look forward to making clothes now instead of a bunch of wadders.

  5. Dawn, this is so cute. You've got me tempted now too! This would be great for winter weekends in a cozy knit, paired with tights.

  6. Please do. Then quickly make it up so I can see what it looks like as I'm considering it myself. Thanks! :)

  7. Well, I just bought it this morning! Michelle made me cave after I saw hers on PR... I can't wait to get it and make it up!

  8. I'm surprised to see you coveting a HP... LOL! But you're right, it is pretty cool.

  10. I don't want to mislead your readers. The Hot Patterns fit a large range of body types as you find from reading the blogs. I just was very pleasantly surprised to find the grading to suit a smaller frame. The length, of course, will need to be adjusted, but even with this, I found that I wasn't slicing away a large portion of my tracing paper. I use my good RTW's to compare and am happy with the results.

  11. The website fabric.com also has two of the Hot Patterns for free download. Perhaps you can try these before you invest on one of their patterns. The styles may not be suitable for your harsh Alaska winter season right now, but maybe you can wear the cowl top under a thick winter coat to a holiday party for a Bond girl look! Best of luck!!

  12. Ah, take the plunge. I too made one today, with the infinity scarf to keep my neck warm. You don't even need a rib knit, just something a bit stretchy. I'm doing at least one more for winter.

  13. I will double-check but I have not seen any new HP stuff for a bit. I'm still hoping for the Three Graces pattern. Will see if one of the daughter's can order it in plus a few others. :D

  14. You've got the sewing chops to not need the sewing-with-knits reassurance, but the multi-styling demo on the HotPatterns YouTube channel will have you calling in that order right away. If Fabric.com had it, I would already have it. When I sew down some of my pattern/fabric stash it will be mine. Or when someone asks what I want in my stocking: this pattern, the knit book Made in Brooklyn (MUST make those mittens), and Decades of Style kimono top.
