It's pretty fitted from the waist to just under the butt. I love flounces. This skirt reminds me of this Burda skirt quite a bit. (I just noticed getting that URL that these are both December skirts, innnnnnteresting . . .)
What's funny about this skirt is it always feels like I'm wearing only a half skirt. It is fitted from the waist to the butt so you feel it against you. But then, it flares out and doesn't touch your body so you don't feel it. More than once have I panicked about having it flipped up or tucked into the waistband because you don't feel the bottom section. One of my colleagues knows I sew my own clothing so she makes sure that there is never any wardrobe malfunction. She hasn't caught anything yet but I'm glad she's got my back if anything should happen. Thank goodness.
Very cute! This was one of the designs I really liked from the December issue. I suppose I'll be copying you in the coming months... I now feel compelled to search the stash for a suitable fabric. :)
ReplyDeleteBefore I saw it on you, I wasn't drawn to it, but you make it look great! Having seen it on a real person, I would make it long above the flounce, which is what I usually do with skirts.
ReplyDeleteI really like it in the denim fabric. very snazzy. Looks super cute on you.
ReplyDeleteI love this design! It is very cute in denim. The weights are a great idea.
ReplyDeleteWonderful skirt and...Brrrr! Is that the North Pole I see over your shoulder?
ReplyDeleteSuper cute skirt! I like your idea of using the weights. I made a Burda skirt a couple of years ago that had the same problem --- weights could be the answer! Hope you have a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like good denim. Your stitching looks great and the fit is fab. All this makes for a super-flattering skirt.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I have this skirt on my to-do list. I was planning to using pinwale corduroy. Now I'll double check to make sure it has enough drape! (No fishermen in my family)
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty stinkin' cute. Happy Holidays!!
ReplyDeleteDang, that's cute!
ReplyDeleteVery cute skirt. My daughter wants me to make this for her - did you shorten the skirt at all?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous ensemble. Love the flounce. 1 degree F requires whimsy!
ReplyDeleteDo you still run in those temps? My limit is 1 degree,no windchill. I will do snow, but ice can be tricky. Any windchill and I renegotiate at the front door,no matter what winter gear I have!
Very cute skirt.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cute, flirty skirt!
ReplyDeleteThanks for braving the cold for me! It looks great and I'm going to start cutting. I'm thinking I'll go with corduroy, which is less stiff and may not flare - will post on PR when I'm done. Happy holidays.

Love it!
ReplyDeleteCute! A denim skirt is a great wardrobe investment.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO CUTE!
ReplyDeleteI have made this skirt also, in denim (also). It is a bit heavy for it but I figure as they made it from cordruoy it would behave pretty similarly. I love this skirt and have photos I will be posting on my blog soon. I added the pockets on the back as I thought they were cute. It is a fun skirt to wear and I must admit to checking to make sure of no wardrobe malfunctions while wearing it!
ReplyDeleteI liked that skirt also - it is on my ever growing list of items I MUST make!!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with it!
I've got it on the table too. In a tan cord just like the mag, HA. I'm such a follower. The cord is nice & soft so maybe I won't have the stickyouty parts? (I don't really need more help in that area. :P )
