How fun is this??

I went to Toys’R’Us yesterday and look what I found for my girls??? This is a lot like this toy I used to have when I was a little girl. I loved that thing. There were different fashion plates and you put them together and rubbed a crayon over it and made **magic**. Look at Angie’s blog to see what I’m talking about. I loved those things. This new version has stencils that go over these pre-sketched figured and then you fill in the details. The other one is more like a sketch book for ideas.

    Fun! I had something similar that involved tracing. It was my favorite toy for YEARS.

    this year Santa brought my six year old the "new" fashion plates... I scoured the interwebs for a vintage version, but no luck. The new ones are pretty much the same, just updated (sort of) clothes. the Diva loves them.

    This looks pretty cool too, I'm going to have to check it out.

    Fashion Plates! I had those and loved them. I remember being very excited to get an add-on set of plates, too.

    do you remember Colorforms from the 60's? there were multiple colors of acrylic clothes that would stick to figures on paper doll like figures. You could dress the figures, layer the pre-cut plastic clothes. That was my first introduction to fashion and design. I fussed and fussed until I got them for my birthday. I was 9.

    I loved my fashion plates and my colorforms. We sold them years ago in a garage sale :(

    I had horse plates. A little different, obviously, but very fun.

    My daughter got a version of this book for her birthday and I'm impressed with the nice work a 7 year old can do with predrawn figures and a good variety of stencils.

    I LOVED Fashion Plates when I was a little girl. And Colorforms! Funny that so many of us who sew remember them.
