I saw this pattern the last time I was at JoAnn’s and couldn’t resist. I finally got around to finishing it.
I made view B/C with the self-fabric belt.
I really like how it turned out. I used a fabric I’ve had in stash for a few years. It was one that my then-husband bought me to make him a shirt. I figure this is a better use of it. This is one of those A/B, C, D cup patterns. It’s interesting to look at the difference between the A/B and the D.
One funny thing is I was at JoAnn’s looking for a long blue zipper. When I came home, I looked in my zipper stash and a navy long zipper appeared out of nowhere. I really like how fitted the back is and I made zero adjustments.
Here’s a better picture of the fabric.
Here’s the nostril shot. Lovely, eh? Once I sewed on the ruffles, I flattened them with the iron so they weren’t so puffy. The V looks really crooked here but it’s not this bad for really. I do think it’s just a tad off but you can see from the top picture, that it doesn’t look like this.
School starts tomorrow (ack!) and I’m wearing this. I’m not really excited too much.
I'd seen this pattern and wasn't in love, but I really like your version. I may have to try it now. I'm a sucker for ruffles and I like that they are subtle with this dress. Great job. :)
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous dress on your. Love the fabric too.
ReplyDeletedefinitely a better use of the fabric - Your version looks much better than the pattern cover.
ReplyDeleteReally cute dress and really good fit! A winner! Like the color!
ReplyDeleteGreat summer look
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, a Much Better Use of the Fabric!!
ReplyDeletePretty dress!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty dress, it looks so much better than the pattern envelope. Good luck at school.
ReplyDeleteI wanted this pattern too but I can't justify any more patterns at the moment. Using the fabric to clean the bathroom would have been better use than a shirt for your ex but a great fabric for this dress! The colour looks really great.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great on you and perfect for starting the new school year out right
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love your idea for pressing down the ruffles. Hopefully wearing a brand new awesome dress will take away some of your back to school blues.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! And the fit is perfection!
ReplyDeleteNICE color on you!
ReplyDeleteYour dress is pretty cute and I'm so pleased it was used for you :-)
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks great on you! I want to sew this pattern, but I don't think I'm going to get to it this summer.
ReplyDeleteVery cute dress, I like the view without the ruffle for myself. But yours with the ruffle is real cute. It fits great!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great looking dress. Is it warm enough to wear to school at this point? Don't really know when it cools off there.
ReplyDeleteReally cute! I love it in that color.
ReplyDeleteGreat color, fabulous dress! Definitely a winner! Sorry about school starting tomorrow, though. I return Sept. 6, and am not excited...
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely in this. The style and color are so flattering on you!
ReplyDeleteIt is very very beautiful and fits you perfectly. love it. I wish I could get the pattern, so I would make one for me as well. :) Asta
ReplyDeleteI just bought this pattern thinking that I would make it as a top with side seam zipper. Your version is lovely - the blue is gorgeous on you.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at school today.
Pretty dress..love the ruffles! The fit is perfect on you.
ReplyDeleteCute dress! Fits you so nicely and the ruffles are adorable!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those patterns that just seems so blah to me, but it looks smashing on you! Beautiful job, and a great use for shirting fabric. I'll bet it's very cool to wear in summer (even in Alaska!).
ReplyDeleteGreat use of fabric! (Much better than its intended use, heh).
ReplyDeleteSorry you're not excited about starting school again - are you just burnt out on life in general? I am so happy you're sewing/posting more - maybe this enthusiasm will spill over into other (more complicated) areas of your life, too, with happy results. :)
That is so cute! Glad to have found your blog. Love to see finished outfits.
ReplyDeleteYou are so prolific with the sewing! I love it. You look fab in the dress, and far better than the pattern illustration. Your post has convinced me to try this out.
ReplyDeleteI love this dress - it looks wonderful on you! Well done! I had always overlooked this pattern, but really love it now having seen it made up!
