Definitely check out a Yardage Town. It's like a treasure hunt kind of fabric store. They've got a lot of weird and awful stuff, but also some really great fabric and trims you won't find anywhere else.
Go to the National City Swap meet on the weekend. Jobbers from the L.A. garment district bring excess fabric to this swap meet and sell it off for $1 and $2 a yard. I bought as much as I (and my friend) could carry.
I used to live in San Diego years ago, and there was a wonderful shop in LaJolla, Jane's Fabrique. Don't know if it is still there though....

I was just there. Yardage town is pretty much the only game in town. Gwen Couture too, but it was closed the day I was there.

ReplyDeleteWhen are you going to be in San Diego? I live here and not too far from the Yardage Town or the Swap Meet. Would love to meet you.
ReplyDeleteI bought gorgeous knits at Gwen Couture, but much more expensive than what you found at the swap meet.
ReplyDeleteIn search of 90% Nylon 10% Spandex fabric does anyone know where I can find it wholesale?
