Isn't Skin Amazing?

My mother-in-law and I were emailing about our trip to Hawaii and she asked about my swimsuits. I sent her some photos of the two I have finished. She said something like, "Wow, no one would ever guess you had twins two years ago." I realized that you guys had never seen the before pictures. These were my pre-sewing days. This is me at 33 weeks pregnant with the twins. I made it three more weeks but have no pictures to prove it. Wasn't I huge? They had me on a high fat, high protein diet. I was supposed to be eating 75 (!!!) grams of protein a day. Needless to say, I can't go near that protein shake stuff now.

I thought you guys would enjoy this. It really shows how elastic skin is and how your body reabsorbs things that it doesn't need. By the look on my pregnant face, you can tell I'm an uncomfortable camper.

  1. Oh Dawn, if I didn't love you I'd hate you! ;-)

Skin is definitely amazing. Something tells me you help it along with killer ab crunches. So share - what do you do???? Pilates? Yoga? Clean livin'?

How on earth did you avoid stretch marks?? I had two +/- 7 pounders, and I've got stretch marks up to and above my waist!

  7. Genetics baby. It's all in the genes. If that was me I'd have stretch marks up to my neck. lol

  8. I wish I had your genes. I have a mess of a stomach. I guess it doesn't help that I don't exercize all that often. ;) You look fantastic!

  9. That's just down right unfair! I had twins boys 14 years ago and yes I lost the weight, but my stomach looks nothing like that! The internet is not ready for pix of my post-partum tummy. Ugh. You are blessed!

  12. Oooh boy, does that picture bring back memories.

26 years ago I had twin daughters. They weighed 6 lbs 10 oz & 6 lbs 4 oz. My stomach looked EXACTLY like yours.

Mine did not exactly snap back into shape like yours did.....I'm still waiting.

  13. ITA genetics baby!!!! Skin is totally amazing - I'm so thankful I got no stretch marks with my four pregnancies, but then again I only had one at a time and you probably had to gain more weight with twins than I did.

  16. If I was uncomfortable carrying one (7 lb) baby, I give you bit time applause for carrying two! I wish I like to run like you, but I really think it's a form of torture. Nice work all around (sewing and being skinny)!

  17. Yowza! Oh my gosh, the body is an amazing thing. You did a great job in recovering/getting back into shape. It ain't all genetics, if you are running in the snow.... :)

  22. Did NOT KNOW that you had twins! :)

Wow. Memory lane... except for your 'after' photo... I got huge with my two, and also am blessed with no stretch marks. And I did get to about 10 pounds smaller than I currently exist, too-- but never had your abs of steel.
In short, skin is amazing. Especially yours. :)
And...WOMEN are amazing! Just look at what we can do as a mere part of our existence! We should be proud.

PS-- Where on earth do you go to run in subzero Alaska?

  23. Not all skin is created equal!
I like the lycra comment! Te he
And a lot of us are, ummmm, a "tiny" bit older than Dawn. That's my "excuse" anyway.

  24. Literally, my jaw dropped. You really don't look like you could have ever been that big.

  25. No, skin is NOT amazing! However, YOUR skin is amazing ;) . I carried way out in the front with all four kids and my skin is around my belly button looks like crepe paper. Not suitable for Internet viewing, that's for sure. It's genetic though. My mom had four kids and her skin is only a little better than mine but still not-so-pretty. My older sister has 5 kids (two are twins), and her skin looks like mine. My only consolation is that I have a really good figure for someone, uh, *my age* :) . So aside from my crepe paper belly skin, the bod is just fine.

I do have a serious case of smooth belly skin envy when looking at your bikini photos.

  26. How fantastic! Now how did you do it?

  27. So, why doesn't my belly look like that???? I've only had three single babies. It's not fair - must be the Alasakn air! *L*
