Houston Fabric Part I

My husband once again hit a home run with his Houston fabric purchases. Notice that the title of this blogpost says Part I. Oh yes, there is more than just this.

First up this beautiful jacquard silk charmeuse. It's blue, gold, and white with burgundy centers. This was a remnant so there is only 1 1/8" of a yard.

I've loved this BWOF 12/08 dress since I saw it. I may try to use this remnant for the bodice and a deep burgundy wool crepe for the skirt. What do you think? Would this be too much for a bodice? I think it would be grand but I'm really smitten with this dress so that might be clouding my judgement.

This is a polyester charmeuse and I love it. This one might be the lining for my coat. There are so many options now. I am leaning toward this one.

This would be a great pop of color on the inside.

Another silk charmeuse. Yummy. I have 1 1/4" yards of this one. He bought the end of the bolt for me.

This is not a husband fabric. This is the one I bought from Thai Silks. I talked about it here on this post.

I promise (really!!) that I'll be posting some finished garments in the next couple of days. I feel like it's been for-ever since I posted something substantial. I promise., maybe tomorrow?

Great fabrics. Great husband!! I think that first one would look great as the bodice for the dress. I had forgotten about that pattern. It is so nice.

Beautiful fabric, lucky lady.

i have a feeling your hubby rather enjoys fabric shopping! I think that fabric will work for the bodice, you might lose some of the pleat detail in the pattern but I still think it will look good.

Lovely fabrics, how wonderful to have a husband who can choose things to your taste.

I really enjoy your blog and I don't care whether you have a finished garment to show or not. I hope you don't feel under pressure to always be displaying an end product. I really enjoy the journey.

Yes, make that BWOF dress, it will be awesome! Just wondering... how does he know how much to buy? I understand the end of the bolt thing, but does he always buy the same amount? My DH would bring me home 1 yd of everything, thinking it looked like more than enough! You are so lucky, he's a good guy!

Dana, that dress is one of the best dresses that was in BWOF last year and your silk will be very groovy in it, i'd prolly use that darkest (blue?)in it as the rest of the dress so it wouldn't be too wild, love that boltend also, and the one with the white bottom and pink flowers, and ,,,,,
hmmm.....
BTW, where do you get husbands like that, I want one also:-)

Where'd he get his eye for fabric?? Have you been coaching him? These are great and I love the both the fabric and pattern ideas you have for the first one.

I love that BWOF dress- it's on my short list! Love that seaming detail in the skirt- pity it doesn't really show up in the photo.
