In the Mood for Jeans

Well, I'm in the mood to make jeans. I started that Sew Along over at Pattern Review and there are lots of people motivated to sew jeans. I still haven't gotten my Jalie patterns. I hope I get them this week. While I wait, I had the itch to sew jeans anyway. This is the back pocket for a trouser-type jean I am currently working on. I used my embroidery machine to stitch the design. It's really tone on tone. The only reason you can actually see the design detail is because of the flash. The embroidered part just adds texture basically. I used a copper colored thread for topstitching. I'll show you all the details once I get them done. All I have to do is the waistband, final fitting tweaks, and hemming. Hopefully I'll have two reviews for tomorrow.

This is the Midweight Denim from Gorgeous Fabrics. You can see in the picture it has sort of a tealish cast. I was surprised when I received it in the mail because the online photo just looks like regular ol' indigo denim. I really like it.

I really like the tone on tone embroidered pockets. Whata pattern did you use for these jeans?

I like the fabric color of your jeans. Nice embroidery. :)

Hello from Germany,

really nice embroidery.
And I also love the color teal.

I'm very nosy to see the rest.

Actually I'm also in a jeans-mania. Cause of not-fitting of patterns, I often copy bought-jeans. The last one was a G-STAR size 28 (bought a long time ago) and fitted it to ***hem*** 31/32?

By the way ...
I discovered you blog last week looking for somebody who sewed BWOF 03.2009 no. 106. Thanks for you really helping pictures. The blouse/top is done and I like it very much.

So, I'll take a seat now and then.
Saying hello to Alaska from the Northern of Germany.

What a terrific pocket; I like the tone-on-tone a lot. You're doing such interesting things with your embroidery machine!

Still waiting for my Jalie pattern, too. I hope it makes it before May!

I like tone on tone embroidery. Subtle, but it adds just enough pizaaz. Though I'm not participating in the jeans sew-along, I have been following it. There's a lot of interesting discussion going on there.

I can't believe your pattern hasn't arrived yet! Kind of ironic, since you're the one who started the sew along! The embriodery looks awesome, tone on tone is a great idea for filling a space in a subtle way!

In general I'm not too fond of embroidery myself, but I do like this tone on tone for your jeans very much. Just a little extra. Very nice.

I'll be very interested in your jeans. And WOW, didn't you just get your EM a couple of weeks ago? Guess that learning curve was pretty short for you. :-)

I love those jeans. I haven't had the nerve to try jeans, yet. I ordered Jalie patterns from SewingPatterns and they shipped next day. The sh/was only $3.00. I had ordered from Jalie same 3 patterns, but sh/was $34.00 from Canada, so I ordered stateside. I really love your blog w/so much "show and tell", that's how I learn. thank you,
Hilary
