Snap Press is here . . .

It is way bigger than I thought. I have already snapped several things to test it. Boy, oh boy will this gadget be fun.

First off, it really reminds me of the Mother Alien. No? And look how large it is compared to the Maxi-Lock thread.
 Queen-Mother

I was checking to see how many layers I could go through. This is four layers of midweight cotton shirting on the left and five layers on the right. No sweat.

Then I tried corduroy. This is very stout corduroy. This is four layers. Again, no sweat. I tried it with eight and no-go. I think if I bought the extra long posts it would go through just fine. I am totally in love with these antique brass snaps (on the right).

This is all the different things I received with the press. Mostly I bought the open ring snaps but I like both. I am certainly going to buy some more of the brass, copper, and silver.

I feel a shirt in my near future. And I'm guessing it will have snaps.

Looks like a lot of fun to experiment with. I agree about the greatness of the antique snaps! So, when can we start shipping our nearly-finished-snapless-shirts to Alaska???

Oh! My Gadget-love is threatening to send me shopping. That looks like something I really need. When you ordered it, I was able to just click on by. Now, I don't know.

Enjoy it and I'll try to resist when I see your great snap(py) projects.

Oh, geez. NOW I think I want one! I have the Prym-Vario snap kit, and it's great. But it's limited to the size - I can't do those big grommets and such. Which die sets did you get with it? It seems a little overwhelming - all those options!

Looks like it will be very useful and the snaps should be nice and sturdy!

You will love it! I bought mine when I used to make baby diapers, but I still use it ever-so-much! And with all the dies you can buy, the snap choices are immense.

Have fun with your new toy.

Now I know what we can do with DH's reloading tool - the one that puts in & pokes out the primers in shell casings - just find some dies that fit & use it to put snaps on!

That is really interesting. I have a button cover press that looks IDENTICAL to that! It was my father's, from when he had an upholstery business. I am really curious to see if it will set snaps!

I have one of those presses, love it, but hate the plastic snaps that came with it. Have you been able to find metal snaps? I tried snapsource, but theirs are all prong type. I guess I'm looking for size 20 post snaps - would appreciate any help. thanks.

I am interested in purchasing a Snap press, but have no idea what kind of dies or snaps to get. I was looking at snapstore.com and sent 2 emails.....looks like they don't answer email. So I am at a loss it seems. I am interested in sewing from infants to children clothes at present. No diapers yet, but plan to in future. Can someone help. Appreciate it much!
