Yummy Merino Wool! Again!

I found more of this fabric. Many of you guys wanted the brown color and I got some more!!!! I have the same two colors as last time so I’m using the same post and pictures. You’ll probably remember it from earlier this year in January. This stuff sold out in less than 24 hours. You fabric-hoarders, you.

This is from the January post:

I put that fabric on Etsy. I have that Merino Wool (from the Jalie tunic) in two colors. I love the dark brown and the soft green colors.

This is Wool Plaited Polartec Powderdry. It’s a two-faced fabric (do I need to make the joke again?). One face is 100% merino wool and the back face is 100% hi-wick antimicrobial polyester. This fabric is designed to be used in athletic, sports, and outdoor wear. It is 60" wide. There is no visible shrinkage when washed in warm water and dried in a warm dryer. There is 40% stretch across the grain and 30% stretch lengthwise.

I am selling it on Etsy in 2-yard increments. If you want more or less, I can do that too. :) Isn’t it lush?

More fabric! Another wool knit and a microfleece!

Another wool knit, but it’s slightly different than the other two from the other day. And may I stop for a moment to say you people are animals? I was sold out of the fabric by the afternoon and I posted it the evening before. Good job people, fabric hoarders!

Anyway. This is a soft blue wool knit. 100% wool on one side and 100% hi-wick polyester on the other side. Hmmm, these pictures are coming off a little gray, but I swear it’s more blue than gray. It’s pretty. This one has a diamond pattern that you can really see from the back. Not so much on the front. This one is stretchier widthwise, 80% and not as stretchy lengthwise, about 25%. This, you guys have seen a hundred times but in another colorway. I bought two bolts a couple years ago and I’ve used us the pink one. This green version I just never used much. It was a roll-end from Patagonia and it’s high-quality stuff. I’ve made a billion pink pajamas with the other fabric. It doesn’t pill and it hold up to anything. And you can iron it (pressing cloth though, people!!!!!!). I always have to add bling to the girls’ jammies! Green MicroFleece on Etsy.

Jalie 2911 + 3245 in Merino Wool

j_2911_26j_3245_5

How freaking cozy is this tunic? I used Jalie’s 2911 upper bodice with Jalie’s 3245 bottom to make it. I’m loving the tunic length tops with leggings and boots look. I’ve made several tops like this lately. This is my favorite. This is made out of merino wool and the fabric is fan-FREAKING-tastic. Oh, obviously we have been getting some snow. I think we are getting about 12” today. I had to take my pictures outside because it is so dark. The sun is coming up at 10:06am and setting at 3:39pm so there isn’t a lot of light. I’m working with what I have, people.
j_2911_20

Love the booty coverage.
j_2911_21

Lightened and with flash although with all the snow you can’t see much.
j_2911_19

The 2911 top is considerable shorter than this and a little boxier. I narrowed it through the waist and followed the 3245 pattern. The length and rounded hem are straight from Jalie 3245.
j_2911_23

Here’s an inside picture. The color is pretty close here. It might be a tiny bit darker in real life. It’s a thin merino wool that drapes well and has some stretch to it. You can’t really see it well but there is a very subtle herringbone design to the knit.
j_2911_22

Here’s the inside. It’s a sport material with two faces (you totally can’t trust it! Get it, it’s two-faced? My humor is lame, I know.). The outer face is 100% merino wool and the inside face is antimicrobial 100% polyester. I may have a few bolts in different colors for those of you who are interested. I’ll set up my ETSY store with some goodies right after Christmas. I have some delish wool doubleknit too. Divine, I tell you!

Here’s the inside of the knit. It’s had to photograph inside with low light.

Happy, happy holidays to you people! Things are busy here! Hardly any time for sewing!!

Nike Dri-Fit, I have some more!!!!

I managed to get my grubby hands on two more bolts of the Nike Dri-Fit Brush-Back knit. I’ll stick it on Etsy this morning. It’s in 2-yard chunks but if you want more or less, let me know.

Nike Dri-Fit + Jalie 2215 = <3 <3 <3

No, it’s not a typo. I made an entire outfit out of Nike fabric and Jalie 2215. I made the top a few days ago and now the pants. I’ve made these pants before and used the same modification as my Halloween pants from a couple years back. The only thing different I did this time was to increase the waistband (I made it out of self-fabric folded in half). This Nike stuff has so much stretch and recovery, I made it 4” less than my waist/hip measurement and it’s perfect. You can see in the picture below that there is a small amount of gathering at the band. When I wear them, those tucks go away.
j_2215_26

Here’s the front with the waistband folded down.
j_2215_27

Here you can see the side with the waistband up. I will probably wear it up for the winter because it keeps all those chills off my back. I think the seam halfway across my butt makes my butt look smaller too. Always a bonus if you ask me. I left the lower legs looser because I sometimes wear longer and thicker socks in the winter and I hate having skinny ankles to mess with.
j_2215_28

Here’s the back of the pants. You can see I added a CL (that’s Center Leg, duh!) seam to the pants like last time. I kinda like it. I should probably take a picture of the back, duh.
j_2215_29

I did put some of this on Etsy. Only eight yards. Yea, I’m a selfish bitch and want to keep most of it for myself. But guys, it’s so COZY and SOFT! I can make running pants for all my kids! Really, I love it that much!

Nike Dri-Fit + Jalie 2215 = <3

Here’s the gray (anthracite) Nike Dri-Fit fabric married to Jalie 2215. I’ve made this top numerous times. It is certainly a winner. In this version, I lengthened the arms, added thumbs holes, and added a high neck band for added warm-fuzziness.

I can also say it has been approved as a cold-weather layering top. I put this on as my base layer and put a windbreaker on over it (it’s been in the 30’s when I run) and went for a run. It wicks with the best of my running tops. Of course, I guess that makes sense. It is Nike wicking fabric.
j_2215_23

I added some fun Urban Threads embroidery to the lower back.
j_2215_24

Here you can see it a little bit better.
j_2215_30

Here it is all spread out. If you don’t have Jalie 2215, you should get it (it’s out of print but you can still get the electronic download). It’s a kid and adult pattern and has this raglan tee (I’ve made numerous times!), a stretch boot running pant (made that a few times too!), and a cute skirt (never made that).
j_2215_25

I know you guys want to buy some of this fabric. I will put some stuff up in my Etsy shop. I think I’ll sell it in 2 yard increments but you can do a custom order for more or less yardage. I’m only putting 12 yards of it up for sale. Enjoy!

Here's a description of the fabric:
Dri-Fit Stretch Fabrics - Hi-Wick Comfort Paired with Lycra Stretch and Return
The Dri-Fir series features advanced wicking performance developed for active individuals. Specially formulated hydrophobic polyester fibers move heat generated body moisture away from the skin to the outer surface of the fabric. The enhanced dissipation of this moisture on the outer surface results in rapid evaporation, keeping the wearer cool and comfortable. The lycra content adds plenty of stretch for active comfort as well as great fit.

Yes, ladies, I have bolts.

I hope people don't think this is tacky but here goes . . .

Most (maybe??) of you know about my side business. I have decided to get out of it because I am too busy and I don't want to sew for others. I'm taking a page out of the Selfish Seamstress's book here. I did use it to support my habit but I don't want to do it anymore. Baby slings were trendy when I started the business and I quickly grew to a point where I either had to hire people to sew for me to squish some of advertising and promotions. Well, I squished it because I didn't want my business to get too big. So, I still have my site up and I'm still selling them but I'm planning on closing up shop soon. I still have a lot of fabric that never made it to baby sling stage. Do you guys want it? I buy it wholesale so it's super cheap. Several of you said you liked the blue one I used as a muslin. I'm selling it for $4 a yard. All of my fabric is cotton/lycra twill, sateen, or pique. It either has 3% or 4% lycra. It is all 60" wide. It's top notch fabric because I only use quality fabrics for my business. At this point, though, I just want to get rid of it. I am only willing to ship with Priority Mail because I can do that from the comfort of my basement. For 1-3 yards, the shipping is $5 because I can squeeze that in a Tyvek shipping envelope. For 4-6 yards, the shipping is $10 because I have to use a box. Right now, I'll put these three up for sale. It is not blouse fabric! It's perfect for dresses with body, skirts, pants (with these prints, yikes!), shirt-dresses, etc.

Here's a smaaaaaallllll selection of the fabric I have. You can see the blue I used for the muslin, the red I used for my Amy Winehouse dress, and a green that's the same print but a different colorway.

I can't figure out how to do multiple yards with one click (stupid PayPal or stupid me?). For now, just click on the "Add to Cart" button, another screen will pop up, and you can just type in the quantity of yards. I'll ship within three days and shipping from Alaska is amazingly fast. I've had packages go from here to the East coast in 24 hours.
