So my husband says this is an "old lady hat." Damn him. This one, unfortunately, is a dud. I used too light of an interfacing and it's really floppy. It may be okay as a beach reading book but that's about it. I can't really walk to well in it unless I just want to see my feet. This one is crooked too. It's really floppy on the left and wavy on the right. This is the
free Burda download #150 from the February issue. You have to register in order to download the pattern.
I think I will make another with stiffer interfacing.

Well, you picked the right fabric for that hat, just the wrong interfacing. Give yourself a break! It will be cute when you're done.
Can you redo the brim to save it or just want to start over again? I love that fabric on you.
I made one of these a few years ago and to add structure I top stitched all around the brim about 1/4" a part in concentric circles to the edge. It made it less floppy.
I also got a new one from REI last mothers day and I love it because there is an enclosed wire around the outside edge of the brim so I can shape it how I like.
I think I may try to copy it.
Keep at it and keep your beautiful skin protected!
I'd like to meet the old lady who would wear that hat! The fabric is great - I hope you can get more. Craft weight interfacing may be what you need.
I have found with most hat patterns that the stiffest of stiff interfacings are best. It's cute as is. But, I can see the problems walking around with it.
But don't you look so cute in it! Great smile!:)
Hee, you do look a tad...rained on...but still so damn cute. Great fabric, and I've no doubt you'll end up with a winner.
Husband are good with "old lady" comments. I get a lot of, "That looks like Old Lady fabric..." What does he know???
