Wearable Wadder?

This is, quite possibly, the ugliest thing I have ever made. However, the Son looooooves it so I guess we'll be keeping it out of the wadder pile. These are all designs that came with my embroidery machine.

He's excited to wear his Ocean Hat. "Mom, I thought I told you I wanted a million dolphins. There are only five! What happened to the others?"

The coverage is good and he won't be getting cold. It's Polartec 200 so it's gonna be ugly and warm. I guess that's better than just plain ugly. See? He loves it.

I'm currently working on a skirt from purple wool crepe and a new knit April BWOF (can I keep using those initials even though it's just Burda now? How will you know if I'm talking about an envelope pattern or the magazine??) top.

His bright blue eyes make up for the hat. I like the dolphins too. I think I was a dolphin in a former life. That is if I believed I had a former life.

Well, the definite upside is you can take some photos of him to save for showing his girlfriends when he grows up...

its so strange to think about living in a place where hats like that are necessary in everyday life. Australia is nothing like that, all i keep thinking when i see those little hat bonnet things your kids need is that they remind me of scuba divers! especially in that colour! but it does look warm, which is most important thing isn't it?
I know your son wouldn't like this but for your girls is there any way you could modify something like this for winter?

Angry chicken makes some awesome stuff for her girls, but your girls would actually get to wear their bonnets everyday!!!!!!! haha- im sorry i have nooooooo place asking you to make bonnet shaped bini's for your kids but i just wanted to give you an idea!!!!!

Tanya

ps- i love your blog, you completely AMAZE me with how much time you seem to wrestle out of each day, Im lucky to get as much done in a week as you do in a day!

If he likes the hat, that's all that matters. If someone asks where he got it, tell them you bought it! HA! Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

I really like those. I personally wouldn't wear them myself, but I like them. You son looks happy with them.

As others have said: hideous, beautifully made. That smile says it all though. :-) This will be a good collection of photos to put on that poster they do of bride and groom at weddings.

Are you trying to tell me that you wont have to plead, beg and eventually wrestle your young son in order to get him to wear suitable headgear for the cold weather? What on earth are you complaining about, I think this should be a time for rejoicing and heartily congratulating yourself for so successfully pleasing your "client"! Well done dawn, and a big congratulations from me too.

If he loves it, it can't be a wadder!

BTW I read your following post as well - the ash is amazing - what interesting things you have to deal with up there!
