Burda 08-2009 #121 Pencil Skirt with Pockets

I did get my hair chopped last week. The back is much shorter. Not as short as the reverse mullet but short enough to give it quite a bit of body. Here's item #8 of my Wardrobe Contest entry. This is a cute pencil skirt with pockets and fun seaming. I had some issues with the hip area but I got that straightened out after the photo shoot. Of course, it's a black skirt so you can't see too many details.

Here it is off the body. I could either use the flash and fade out all the details or be in focus. I settled for the slightly out of focus pictures because you can see the seam details.

After I took the photos I saw these tugs around the butt. I fixed that by letting out the side and CB seam just a little bit. The back section is straight so I made a "pocket" for the ol' derriere. Part of the bump on the right side is the invisible zipper.

When I cut this I only had enough material to cut the yoke in two separate pieces. So, there should not be a seam in the waistband or the CB yoke.

The bottom back has a small open slit for walking ease.

Review coming at PatternReview.com later tonight.

Great skirt, I've been wondering about those seam lines. Do you think it makes a straight silhouette appear curvier, and maybe a curvy silhouette should stay far, far away???

Very cute! I have this skirt paired with black as well. Of course it doesn't go with my wardrobe so I've no clue when I'll get around to it. Darn that contest!

Good skirt. I'm liking those boots though. I can never find a pair that I like when shopping, but see great ones all over. As to the pillowcases...I have never thought of making any until your post. What a great idea especially for gifts.

I've been looking at a bunch of BWOF skirts and can't decide which one to make. I really like this! How do you think it would be in a lighter denim?

I love it! The interesting seam lines make it a nice twist on the classic pencil skirt. Plus, it looks fab on you!

I LOVE your new haircut. If my hair was thicker I would do a short bouncy cut like that, too. As always, I am in awe of your sewing skills. :-)

It is very cute!! That is the pattern I want to use with some boucle I got on sale at fabric.com. I really want to try leather piping along that front area, but I am a bit intimidated!!

The detail is really nice on your pencil skirt. Very nice!

It's adorable. But it's not a pencil skirt, since the seam goes in as it goes down. That's called a pegged skirt.

You look fabulous in it!

I have had my eye on that skirt pattern - I liked it in denim (I think they made it in denim in the mag too? Looks great anyway! Like the hair too, I never got round to posting when you were asking about a new style, but I have always liked your hairstyle in your avatar - this is slightly longer but similar.

This skirt has such great details. Sassy! I've also found that problems appear in pictures that you don't see in the mirror... after you think you're all done!

Lovely. I haven't picked up a BWOF in at least 2 weeks. I had completely forgotten this cute skirt!
