Jalie 2788–Twist Top

I know that the twist top has more than come and gone and that people are so over this pattern and design. But, can I just say, I really like it. Yes. Still. I’ve made this pattern a couple of times before (here’s the pattern at Jalie) and the only change I made was to make the back a little lower. I love the front.

And I did like the back until I saw it in these pictures. It’s actually just the bra that makes it bad. It looks like a have two, giant, widely-spaced, man nipples on my back. Can you say, eeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww? I think it’ll look a lot better with a different bra. Kind of funny.

Here’s a close-up of the front twist part. Typical Jalie, it fits really well.

Next, I need to make a kid swimsuit and some summer jammies for my kids. It’s been a really warm summer and my kids mostly just have long-sleeved warm stuff. I’m still working on changing up my photos to my photo library so you can’t see my other versions of this top.

Wow, this looks great on you, especially in the b&w optical illusion sort of fabric.

And, yes, the back looks pretty weird at the moment, but I'm sure you can make it work with a different bra.

I love it.

I just bought a twist pattern today. It may have had its moment in fashion, but I think it is a classic detail that will stick around.

Haha you crack me up. The top looks great. I just love the fabric and the interesting back details. With a different bra I'm sure you will get heaps of wear out of the top

Hahaha well, unexpected 'back nipples' aside, it is a really well fitting top. The fabric is interesting, too.

This is my go to pattern for quick knit tops. Tent like tops may be in fashion but this one is feminine and flattering and doesn't make me look like I'm pregnant with my own grandchild.

Love it! I'm still planning to make a twist top one of these days and don't think the style looks dated. The back is hysterical!

LOL! Outside of the back nips, this is a lovely top; I really love the optical illusion fabric.

Love your fabric choice for this top and the back can be fixed with a different bra. It's amazing the things our cameras can see that we wouldn't normally notice!

Twist tops are EVERYWHERE in RTW right now. Maybe it's just we sewists who seem "over it". I'm not, tho. Just made a few of 'em over the last few weeks. Yours looks super!

Those back nips are hilarious!

What a great looking top. I love the print in this knit. Too funny, about the back, but thankfully such an easy fix!

Cute top! And the fabric is perfect - I love how the print sort of swirls around the twist.

So funny! I thought the same thing- nipples on the back:) Don't you just love the honesty of photos- get that camera away from me! I just got the twist-tie front and will wear it until it comes back into style- you go!

Well, you definitely said what was going on in my mind, but even better! What a crack-up - I laughed out loud. I know you will never wear that bra with it again :) What a great top - timeless - and it fits beautifully.

I like your fabric!..I've made this one a few times for myself, and twice for my daughter. It's one of my favorites from Jalie!
