Ya’ll know I bought a new house with a hot tub. Well, I made the kids swimsuits and it was time to make one for me. I prefer to go au naturel but when you have company over or when you hot tub with the kidlets, well, I go with a swimsuit. I used Jalie 2446 for the bikini top and the Ottobre 5/2009 #2 underwear pattern for the bottoms.
Here are the bottoms. I used my Necchi machine and it does beautiful zig zags on nylon. I use a stretch needle and Gutterman thread to get the best results.
I love the Jalie bikini top. It’s pretty darn easy and looks pretty RTW when you get done. I lined the top and the front of the bottoms.
I bought the s-hooks from SewSassy.com a while ago.

Great suit! If I start running, can I look like that?
This suit fits you like a second skin, and if you were any more fit, you'd be able to self levitate! What kind of Necchi machine do you have? Does it make good buttonholes? Inquiring minds want to know. Enjoy the hot tub and the warm weather--Judi
Nice - I love the color! I have yet to tackle bathing suits, but you make it look easy.
I bought that top pattern as well from Jalie - I can't wait to make it. It looks fab on you - really fantastic. By the way, can I have your abs?
Great Suit...fits so well.
What Marysews said. Seriously. You look great!
beautiful suit, the color is so tropical, is it turquoise? I am seeing more and more of this color as the season progresses. I haven't sewn a bathing suit for a long time, yours is so nice on you, wouldn't work out well for me however!
I love your bathing suit and that's a great color on you. By the way, I also like your top from the last post.
Thanks for the bathing suit inspiration!
Where is the lining fabric from?
Looks great...but chlorine has been known to destroy those hooks. I had my top pop right off into the face of an hotel employee when the plastic disintegrated. Now I hunt down thrift store suits just for the metal hooks. I have also replaced the strap adjusters on my favourite bras using thrifted metal.
I'm so cold here in Sydney but I do remember what a great swimsuit looks like - just like yours! Well done on a fabulous fit.
Great colour and I love the style of the top and bottom pieces. I think you've inspired me to try my hand at sewing bathers:)
Gail, I agree freezing in Sydney right now.
But what great swimmers!!! I have been following your blog for a while now but first time I have posted. Wanted to say thanks for inspiring me to make my own underwear!!! Maybe a swimsuit will be next!
Nice swimsuit! It looks and fits great. Enjoy that hot tub:)
Jeepers that colour makes your eyes look so blue! Great cut and fit on your togs too.
That is a great looking/ fitting swim suit! Love the color.
why don't you go au natural all the time? You do have a body you can show off
This is the first two piece I've ever seen that looks almost as comfortable as swimming without! Beautiful job on the fit, and a nice reminder that suits can be finished with only a zigzag if preferred.
What do you really have to show when Au natural? 2 tits like buttons and shriveled prune down there ?
Please,, please, please, Dawn. Post something new! I'm am getting more and more depressed every day looking at you in a bathing suit.
OMG the anonymous comment is hilarious !!.So true @
I am a long time reader, finally delurking to say - wow - what nasty comments anon and samantha have written. So rude and really out of place on somebody's personal sewing blog. Dawn, I hope you delete those! (And, you and the suit look great, btw!).
Hmm anon and Samantha sound like a bitter ex with a split personality to me lol. Ignore them Dawn, you look fab. Hope you're enjoying soaking in the tub, it sounds like heaven....now if only you could sew while you're in there it would be perfect.
All right, I know you have been sewing SOMETHING...right?? Please post. You are such a wonderful seamstress...I know that I need your inspiration.
C'mon...oh one of perfect seams.
8-)
