I took several full length photos of the coat but they were all blurry, dark, and crappy. So I settled on two that turned out okay. This is the princess seam detailing with one of the belt loops and belt.
Is this lining kick ass or what? This fabric is from Gorgeous Fabrics (which is having a 20% off sale, btw!) and after-the-fact I asked Ann if she had some lining that would look nice with the purple. Boy did she ever.
All I have left is to attach the wigan (I know, I was supposed to do this the other day), attach the lining sleeves to the fabric sleeves, sew the hem, attach buttons, sew buttonholes, do a lot of pressing, and do a little topstitching.
It seems like a lot now that I wrote it all out. Hopefully I'll have it done by the end of the week.

That IS great lining! And I LOVE that particular color of purple. That's pretty much the coat of my dreams! :)
Did you change your hair in your profile picture? It looks fabulous!
I love the coat and appreciate all the detail. I've never made one and I still think I'm too afraid to try! How did you get so fearless?
There has been quite a lot of coat sewing this season. Maybe by next fall/winter I'll feel up for the challenge. I love your purple fabric and the topstitching details looks great.
wow, it's going to be great.
Looking good! The lining rocks. I use blue painter's tape to mark my fronts and backs, but I'd use your stickers if I had any around.
Oh my goodness. I am salivating with anticipation! that fabric is wonderful. Can't wait for you to finish!
I dare you to keep one of those "Make me an offer" stickers on your coat facing. It'd be fantastic to whip open your coat and have it there instead of a bunch of watches for sale. ;)
(and oh god your coat is gorgeous and I'm so jealous. My sewalong coat is only a third assembled and shoved behind the mending pile for the foreseeable future...)
That lining is so beautiful! I can't wait to see your finished coat!
You are making a coat too!I love the topstitching! If you told me a year ago that I would be making a coat, I would not believe you! I am already thinking of a second.
Thanks for your Burda tips--your post was helpful. cindy
