Strangely enough, Marji and I made a skirt out of the same fabric. Marji, Cidell, Carolyn, and LindseyT all did a pencil skirt challenge using bright floral prints. I must be on the same wavelength because Marji posted about it the same day I finished the skirt. Mine's not a pencil skirt though. I'll have to look at that yoke piece and see why it looks crooked. I used this cotton/lycra sateen and topstitched it with red thread.
I had to take in a good three inches in the waist and I think I took in just a bit too much. Whoops. The serger and I got a little excited.
These are not shoes that I normally wear. My husband bought them as a joke but I kind like the red with the red buttons.

Very cute skirt, it looks great on you. Like the red shoes with it, too.
Loving the skirt (I have the same fabric I'll use to make a top) and I'm loving the shoes!!
Your skirt looks great. Fun item on your daughter. Amazing to sleep like that!
Fun with the red contrast for stitching and shoes. Your print placement works a lot better than the one that I made!
I'm curious about your class, and have looked at your blog a couple of times trying to find the first post about it. Who's teaching it, and what type of jacket are you making? That's exactly what I do with the muslins (remember the Coat Sew Along muslins?)
Fantastic that you've got that class avail to you.
Those sure are some sexy shoes. I'm not sure he only meant them as a joke though. Wink, wink. ;)
Looks great...funny...I've been thinking about what to do with my chunk...skirt or short jacket. Not sure that print will look acceptable across my butt. Hmmm.....back to The Top.
I love the skirt: the bold print and all the details. I agree with others about the red shoes: they are great..... if you can walk in them!
The skirt is very cute. ;) I would love to see a tutorial on how you finish the top of the zipper. It is a very clean finish - much better than I manage.
thanks - Lois
I love this skirt! And those red shoes are adorable - especially with the skirt.
Cute skirt. I really like the addition of red buttons and red shoes. It adds a little punch. Very nice outfit.
Hey, I like those red shoes! Cute skirt as well. I really need to make this pattern. I'm stuck of making it in navy blue but can't find a fabric I like for it.
I love those red shoes!!! Great skirt, too! Can't wait for today to be over with so I can spend my summer vacation with my sewing machine!
heehee, you can't fool me - neither of those shoes are the ones you REALLY wear! (I can see your shoe tan lines...)
Great skirt, great fabric, and the red buttons and topstitching really make it fun.
Best. Red. Shoes. Ever!
(And the skirt is fantastic!)
I love your skirt! It looks very good and the red shoes are AMAZING! I want them! ;)
I love your skirt, the fabric, the really nice and clean finish on the inside. I made that one too, and it was the first time I sewed a skirt, it was easy, but I got confused about the front part of the skirt and it's nice that you posted close up pictures of the construction, I can see that I ended up doing it OK...except for my invisible zipper, which could be more invisible! As someone already suggested, I would also love to get a tutorial about the finishing of the top of zipper... Chantal
I love the skirt. The red buttons really make it pop. I love the entire outfit, especially the red shoes.
That is a great skirt on you! I love the style and fabric!
I like the skirt, but I LOVE how the red shoes show up the red buttons!
Great skirt on you. I love the red topstitching and buttons with the red shoes. Looks great!
Cute skirt. The red is surprising. Adds zest.
Cute skirt and both pair of shoes are winners.
Really cute!
