More Undies

On the potty training front I've been somewhat successful. One of the girls (twin #2)just decided that she's a Big Girl and is now potty trained. I'd like to say I had something to do with it but it was just her. We still have an occasional accident but really, she did it on her own. The other twin?? Well, she could care less. I'm not sure if it's defiance because her sister got so much positive attention for peeing in the potty or what. Twin #1 also talked later and is just waaaaaay laid back in general. Who knows. I'm not worried about it. Right now, I'm just happy I have half the diapers to change. To celebrate I made #2 new underwear and she got to pick out the butt design. She kept yelling, "I want flowers on my butt!!!" So be it. I also tried my hand at piping. I need a lot more practice. I love this pattern (that*darn*kat review on PatternReview.com) because you can use itty-bitty-teeny pieces of left-over knit.

The applique pieces are all from my husband's deceased grandmother. I just love having really cute fabric for appliques like this. Before she died, I think her plan was to make a scrap quilt. She had hundreds of 4" squares cut out. They are all random fabrics. You can tell some are very old. She would love that I am using them. Like I've said in previous posts, I think the most important thing I can do is pass history on to my kids. Their great-grandmother's fabric is part of their history.

When twin #1 saw this she said, "Awwwwww, soooo cute! I want bunnies!!!" So I may use bunnies to lure her to the potty.

Enjoy! We went camping last night so I'm a bit tired. It was just me, a tent, and three kids. I'm whooped.

You're to be admired sewing kids undies - I'm far too lazy for that.

My oldest daughter resisted potty training until her second birthday party. One of the other kids (a senior of 3!) saw her using the potty and told her she was a baby. she decided that she was going straight into underpants!

Cute little undies! My family all goes out to lunch after church. Today, my little grandson, age 2, entered the restaurant, running toward me saying "Go pee pee" over and over, so loudly that everyone looked at him. I took him to the bathroom, and --yay!!

You are lucky, my 4 year old is resisting being fully trained. He is good while out, but as soon as we come home, boom. Now, wetting is no problem, it's pooping. Fun... I really think it is because his older brother is not fully trained being handicapped and those two have been a trip together, talking, everything about the same time. Plus the younger one is very stubborn...

Really cute undies! Twin #1 will be trained when she is ready. I think they have to want to do it. Such a wonderful use for grandmothers fabric. She would be pleased that it is being used. I admire all the sewing that you do. Going camping with three kids in a tent is bravery. Good for you. We used to camp a lot when DS was a child but now he is an adult with children of his own and our camping is now a nice hotel room.

Awww so cute. And you would never find me in a tent outdoors. I hate outside and it's too hot around here to even be outside for 5 minutes.

Huh...tendency to do crazy stuff much? Tent, 3 kids, single parent?! Good thing you didn't have your dog with, or did you?

Was great chatting with your kids today...so very sweet!!

DS is almost there... I think some Transformers or Power Rangers undies will put him over the edge! Where did you get that flower applique design? Too cute!

I love that pattern, too. I don't think I'll ever buy undies for my kids again.

Love the appliques on the bootie and how neat using grandmommy's fabrics!

Cute applique! Where is it from?? I need to make more undies too! Your undies are too cute! My dd went to wear white shorts the other day and I realized she only has 1 white pair.....guess I need to go boring and make some utilitarian ones....maybe with a cute applique!

I've had that pattern all year but have yet to sew it up.

Yours turned out so cute I'm ready to give it a go.

Well done! Half (or should I say - most) of the trick with kids is working out their motivation... if bunnies does it .. fantastic! I have two mopey teenagers- money does not even motivate them.. lol! (one fancies himself as a starving artist and I have to say - he is well on his way to achieving it!)
