Kwik Sew 3584 Cropped Jacket

This may be a dud. This one looks sooooo boxy and unflattering on me. I think it will look okay when I wear it with full-length or short sleeves. I am wearing it with a 3/4 length flare sleeve. I hope that is one of the reasons it looks bad.

I decided to line it because I had to underline this fabric because it was so fragile and loosely woven. I used a lavender acetate lining that I had left over some project. Instead of buttons, I used double snaps in black. Since I got my snap press, I haven't sewn a button.

See? Kinda boxy. Yea, no, really boxy.

Well.... How would it look if you shortened it a tiny bit < 2 inches? I like the color on you.

Hmmm, not bad on you. I think it has possibilities, because this kind of jacket is in the stores everywhere just now. Here's my two-cents worth: Big black buttons about an inch wide, maybe about three of them near the top. (Can you remove snaps without damaging the fabric?) Then try shortening the sleeves so they are more like a cap sleeve. And consider shortening the length like Beth suggested. But even if you didn't make any changes it's still a keeper. Good job.

Oh I like it! But I like the boxy cropped look. Probably because it makes me look like a refrigerator. I'm fashion-cool like that.

I think you'll like it better with slim sleeves too (and maybe all the same color under).

it's like volvo- boxy, but good.

I agree with Lindsay. Big buttons and the sleeves shorter. Also, try it with the long sleeve shirt.

I like the jacket! It is boxy, but that is the style of the jacket! I like the color too! I think it would look good with close fitting pants and top. The snaps are cute, but I think that chunky buttons would have gone well with the boxy nature of the jacket too. Definitely a keeper!

Or a black belt, like at an empire waist height....

It's really pretty, but I agree with an earlier comment, shorten the sleeves, wear slim sleeves underneath and similar color, if showing. Otherwise, pretty neat & fits you well.

You know what I think about these jackets? That they're simply too short for some figures. Although some say to shorten and that could be cute, I've lengthened some of my short, boxy jackets by 2-3" and they look so much better. (And I'm short waisted so go figure!)

But overall, it looks like a cute jacket on you. Maybe not your favorite, but still very nice.

I like it on you. It looks like it fits you well in the shoulders. I think it looks just like it is supposed to.

Overall, I like the jacket--it is a bit boxy, but that is the style. I think the problem is that it is too dressy for the low rise jeans and boatnecked sweater. May I suggest you wear it with a black shell and black slim pants, or with a sleeveless black dress. Both the shell and the dress should have a scooped neckline that won't fight with the jacket neckline. Also, Kat maty be correct about the length. You may want to make your next version longer with long or 3/4 sleeves.

I really love this look on you. Since your frame is pretty tiny I don't think boxy is bad. The fabric was a fun choice & the color is fantastic on you! Looks like it would be cute paired with a pencil skirt.

Late to the party here but.....I like the sleeves just as they are. The look is like that and it looks great on you. I also like the black underneath but long tight sleeves would be better. Also a turtle neck or at least a round neck. I think the boat neck is looking wrong and is distracting. Really cute!

Like the idea of big black buttons. It just needs that touch of funky to get rid of the frump factor. I think this would be cute with cropping the sleeves short - like to cap length - a la Michael Kors suit toppers for Fall.

also a better late than never comment. This is great but the proportion of the jacket is fighting with the top underneath. YOu need something underneath that doesn't end two inches below the end of the jacket. So a top the same color as pants or skirt, or a highwaisted skirt or a dress so there's one line from where the jacket ends on down (preferably one that has a waist, I think). Right now you have two waistlines and that's the what's making you boxy, not the jacket necessarily. Ditto longer sleeves and a neckline that doesn't fight the jacket. Otherwise, I think this shape is cute on you -- color is great.
